K.E. Semmel has translated more than 15 books from Danish, including, most recently, Mathilde Walter Clark's Lone Star (with Martin Aitken). He's a 2016 NEA Translation Fellow for his translation of Simon Fruelund's The World and Varvara.
K.E. Semmel's work has appeared in Ontario Review, Washington Post, World Literature Today, Southern Review, Subtropics, Lithub, and elsewhere. His translations include books by Karin Fossum, Naja Marie Aidt, Erik Valeur, Jussi Adler Olsen, Simon Fruelund, Kenneth B. Andersen, Thomas Rydahl, Jesper Bugge Kold, and Mathilde Walter Clark. He is a recipient of numerous grants from the Danish Arts Foundation and is a 2016 NEA Literary Translation Fellow.
